Her Excellency Audrey P. Marks, Ambassador of Jamaica to the USA and Permanent Representative to the OAS The US is Jamaica’s main trade and development partner. I am responsible for advancing Jamaica’s relations with the United States, including strengthening trade and commercial ties and exploring opportunities for further collaboration in various spheres. Among the key projects being explored are SMART Jamaica wich entails smart farming, public safety and waste management, as well as Plan Secure Jamaica. The latter is a proposal for the development of a socio-economic model of cooperation which would promote Jamaica as a model in the Region of how a country can achieve prosperity with US’ cooperation and support and would also redound to the US’ benefit by having a secure and prosperous third border. The main thematic areas underlined for cooperation under Plan Secure Jamaica include National Security and Public Safety, Energy Security, the Blue Economy, Tourism/Open Skies, Labour Mobility, Digital Economy, Education, Healthcare, Environmental Hazards and Trade, Industry and Investment.
