Biography
As Deputy Director General “Innovation and Technology Policy” Mr. Janssen oversees the following units in the subdivision: General issues of national and international innovation and technology policy; Accreditation and conformity assessment, metrology, supervision of Federal Institute for Material Research and Testing (BAM) and German National Metrology Institute (PTB); Central Innovation Programme for SME; Industrial research for companies and innovation guidance for SME; national and international policy on standardization and patent policy; technical regulation and standardization for ICT, product safety, market surveillance. Previously, he served at the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport of Lower Saxony and as Director at the State Chancellery of Lower Saxony. He graduated in economics at Hannover University. He had been an Academic assistant at the chair for economics at Greifswald University and holds a PhD in economics.
