Natalia Samayoa, Trade Commissioner at Consulate General of Guatemala in Miami, Florida, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The mandate of the Trade Commissioner Service is to promote Guatemala’s economic interests in global markets by engaging in a range of activities including: contributing to export market development; conducting advocacy and foreign market access activities; understanding and analyzing trade policy issues; attracting foreign direct investment to Guatemala; promoting and attracting more tourism to Guatemala, developing a network of international business contacts; identifying and contacting business leads to promote foreign trade between Guatemala and the US; fostering of strategic alliances with the public, private, academia and media sectors to promote the country; linking Guatemalan businesses to global value chains among other responsibilities. Thanks to this efforts, we have generated more than USD$ 2.6 Million in new exports, USD$ +700 Million in new foreign investments and 38 new packages that promote Guatemala as a tourist destination. Previous jobs: Senior Foreign Direct Investment Advisor at the Ministry of Economy, as a Electoral Advisor at the Supreme Electoral Court and as market intelligence analyst in the private sector.
