Lauro Arias is the Assistant Deputy Director at the Illinois Office of Trade and Investment, the arm of the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity that oversees export promotion and foreign direct investment. He brings extensive expertise in international trade and has served as director of an International Trade Center for the Illinois Small Business Development Center. A native of Uruguay, Arias holds an M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Reading in England.
