Latoya Rattray-Ellis, Agricultural Communication Consultant Latoya Rattray-Ellis is a Jamaican communication
consultant and active farmer working across agriculture, research, and development. She is currently partnering with the
World University Service of Canada (WUSC) through its Sustainable Agriculture in the Caribbean project to help reduce
the spread of yam rust and antract node disease in sweet yam. She is also leading research on the feasibility of
producing sweet yam on the plains of St. Catherine. If successful, this could reduce labour costs, cut overall production
expenses, and improve access to clean planting material for farmers. Latoya is the co-founder of LAE Farm Ltd., which
grows tubers, vegetables, and spices for the Jamaican market. She serves on the Rural Agricultural Development
Authority (RADA) Clarendon Parish Advisory Board, is a member of the Jamaica Network of Rural Women Producers,
