The liberalization of markets, the emergence of powerful regional trading blocs across the globe, and the growing dominance of the global supply chains have all combined to create a radical shift in the culture and operations of businesses, even within a Small Island Developing State (SIDS) like Barbados. [expand title=”Read more…”] These changes have been driven by the adoption of more advanced technology and a re-engineering of roles and responsibilities within business operations. The Chamber recently redefined its strategic mandate to ensure that the organization is well-positioned to anticipate and respond to the changing needs of our membership and the wider business community. The new strategic plan (2021-2024) seeks, among other things, to: Strengthen and enhance the organizational efficiencies in-line with the strategic direction; Reshape the membership service offerings and benefits and develop a framework to facilitate enhanced membership engagement; Increase collaboration and partnerships to support trade and business expansion for the membership; Develop a digital transformation (including ecommerce) support system for members and Develop a Business Recovery/Resilience programme to support the membership. The ACE programme will positively support the strategic objectives of the BCCI by providing opportunities to explore new trade and investment partnerships for the diverse business sector in Barbados. The programme will also provide best practices that the Chamber can leverage for the benefit of the business sector. Additionally, the ACE programme will provide me with exposure to innovative and cutting-edge trends in technology and business development that can be leveraged to positively enhance the business ecosystem in Barbados. It is also anticipated that as a participant I will gain insights into soft landing opportunities for Barbadian companies (Chamber members) who wish to enter the Ecuadorian Market. The programme will also assist me in identifying entrepreneurs and businesses in Ecuador who can be potential trade and investment partners for companies in Barbados.
