Edison Lanza is a graduate from the Law School of the University of the Republic (Uruguay). Expertise in public international law, human rights and freedom of expression, government affairs (1988). President of Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI)-OAS. Director of International Relations and Open Government of the Departmental Government of Canelones, Uruguay (2021-2025). Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, leading the office principal monitor for freedom of expression and right to information in the Americas (10/2014 – 10/2020). Appointed as a senior fellow of the Peter D. Bell Rule of Law Program at Inter American Dialogue (2020 to date). Appointed by American University Washington College of Law, Center for Justice and International Law (CEJIL) and Due Process of Law Foundation (DPLF) as a member of an Independent Panel to Observe and Report on the Selection Processes of the candidates for Commissioners of the Interamerican Commission on Human Rights of the Organization of American States (OAS, IACHR) (Washington, May 2023 to present).
