Dr. Reynold Verret became the sixth president of Xavier University of Louisiana on July 1, 2015. He leads the nation’s only historically Black and Catholic institution. As President of Xavier, Dr. Verret leads efforts to build enrollment, enhance the quality and diversity of academic programs, develop the faculty, promote interdisciplinary efforts, create partnerships, and honor Xavier’s founding legacy to contribute to a more just and humane society. Dr. Verret previously served as provost at Savannah State and Wilkes Universities, as dean at the University of the Sciences, and led the Department of Chemistry at Clark Atlanta University. As a biochemist and immunologist, he held adjunct faculty appointments at Tulane and Morehouse School of Medicine. Dr. Verret served on the National Institutes of Health, the Board of the Pennsylvania Humanities Council, and the Georgia Coastal Indicators Coalition. He has dedicated effort to increase students from underrepresented groups pursuing degrees in STEM disciplines. Dr. Verret’s family immigrated to the U.S. in 1963 from Haiti. He graduated from
Columbia University and earned his doctorate from the MIT. He engaged as a postdoctoral scholar at the Howard Hughes Institute for Immunology at Yale and the Center for Cancer Research at MIT.
Technical assistance in developing STEM curricula and educational strategies, opportunities for international students, collaboration in developing funding opportunities for research initiatives and partnerships in the transfer of new technologies, particularly medicinals.
Through cooperation, we can expand opportunities for international education through exchange study programs. There are opportunities for collaborations in research and education, especially in science and technology. Moreover, these collaboration will grant to young women and men greater knowledge across nations and cultures of the world. Thus, we advance a more just and humane community.

Dr. Calvin Mackie

Dr. Calvin Mackie is an award-winning mentor, inventor, author, former engineering professor, internationally renowned speaker, and successful entrepreneur. In 2013, Dr. Mackie founded STEM NOLA, a non-profit organization created to expose,
inspire, and engage communities in the opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). To date, STEM NOLA has engaged over 70,000 K-12 students in hands-on project-based STEM activities. In 2021, he launched STEM Global Action to advance K-12 Stem education across the U.S. and the world. Mackie is also the President and CEO of the Channel ZerO Group LLC, an educational and professional development consulting company he co-founded in 1992. He has presented to numerous civic and educational institutions, government entities, professional association, and businesses of
every size and industrial focus. He has won numerous awards including 2019 Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Board’s Chair Phoenix Award, which recognizes individuals whose extraordinary achievements strengthen communities and improve the lives of individuals and families, nationally and globally. In 2003, he was awarded the 2003 Presidential Award for
Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring in a White House ceremony.

Klassi Duncan

Klassi R. Duncan currently serves as Vice President of the Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation (CEI) at the Urban League of Louisiana based in New Orleans, LA. The Center’s operations include: the Women’s Business Resource Center, the Contractor’s Resource Center, and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise(DBE) Supportive Services Program – Region B (New Orleans/Hammond). The CEI provides small
business education, counseling services, and access to resources to women and minority entrepreneurs across the state of Louisiana. In this role, Klassi is responsible for the oversight and management of the organization’s operations, programming, and staff. Her responsibilities include establishing and leading the strategic direction of the organization, developing market-
specific training curricula and special events, fund development and management, fostering strategic partnerships, and increasing the Center’s impact in the community. Under her leadership, the Women’s Business Resource Center was awarded the 2020 State and Region VI Women’s Center of Excellence Award, the 2019 Region VI Women’s Center of Excellence Award, and the 2017 Women’s Business Champion Award by the U.S. Small Business Administration, Louisiana District Office for their work in promoting and developing women-owned businesses across the region. Klassi is an active member of the United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, the International Council for Small Business, and is a member and serves on the Board of Directors for the Association for Women’s Business Centers. Ms. Duncan earned a BS in Business Management and a Master’s in Business Administration at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL. She is also a Certified Professional in Supply Chain Management and a Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity.

Victoria Adams Phipps

Victoria Adams Phipps is an executive and impact strategist who was pivotal in solidifying New Orleans’ status as a hub of entrepreneurial activity. She is the Vice President of Engagements and Impact at Fourth Economy, an innovative consultancy focused on fostering action to create great communities, impactful organizations, and strong economies. Previously she served as Chief Strategy Officer at the New Orleans Business Alliance, the economic development engine for the city of New Orleans. In this role, she leads operational strategy, program design, and strategic communications. Most notably, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Victoria led relief efforts that generated $1.5MM in direct relief for New Orleanians, including gig economy workers, hospitality workers, and small businesses. Her work with the Gig Economy Relief Fund has received national acclaim from local and national media, including Forbes, Billboard, The Advocate | Times-Picayune, and Biz New Orleans. Prior to joining the New Orleans Business Alliance team, Victoria was Executive Producer of New Orleans
Entrepreneur Week, a week-long festival celebrating innovation and entrepreneurship that was a major driver of economic revitalization for New Orleans post-Hurricane Katrina. In this role, Victoria worked with organizations like Google, JPMorgan Chase, Salesforce.com, and Uber to engage over 50,000 event attendees, driving $4.3MM in funding and resources to local startup ventures. Her efforts contributed to New Orleans being ranked #5 City Where Entrepreneurship is Booming by Entrepreneur Magazine and solidified Inc. Magazine’s declaration that New Orleans is the “Coolest Startup City in America.” Originally from Miami, Florida, Victoria received her Bachelor of Science from Loyola University New Orleans and certification in Diversity & Inclusion from Cornell University. Victoria serves on the board of directors at Good Work Network, the Louisiana Fair Housing Action Center, and Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans, where she Chairs the Strategy Committee. She is a past Curator within Global Shapers, a global community of young leaders established by the World Economic Forum. She’s an active member of the Junior League of New Orleans, and an alumna of the New Leaders Council Institute. Victoria has received numerous accolades including: Gambit’s 40 Under 40; New Orleans Magazine’s Top Female Achievers; Biz New
Orleans’ Women to Watch; and CityBusiness’ Women of the Year. Most recently, she was named the Young Economic Development Professional of the Year by the International Economic Development Council and Top 40 Under 40 in the Economic Development Industry by Jorgen Consulting and Development Counsellors International.
Participants can call on me or the broader Fourth Economy team when seeking support in advancing equitable economic development strategies; driving community engagement processes; or executing analysis about your economy. I am also available for presentations, speaking engagements, and consulting scopes relative to economic development, entrepreneurship, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
I’m seeking international and domestic opportunities to consult with communities who seek strategies for economic advancement. Partnership and philanthropic support for equitable economic development efforts are also goals for this engagement.
