
Dr. Kai-Ann Skeete is the Trade Research Fellow at the Shridath Ramphal Centre for International Trade, Law, Policy and Services based at the UWI Cave Hill Campus, Barbados. Her substantial training is in the field of International Relations, Trade and Political Science. Kai-Ann is responsible for administering the CARICOM Forward Trade Agenda which seeks to investigate increased opportunities for the Caribbean private sector within the CARICOM Single Market and Economy. Also, she teaches several courses on Caribbean integration and supervises a plethora of MSc Research papers. Kai-Ann recently completely the Economics of Innovation course which presents a vital framework/lens with which to study the future development of the Caribbean. Kai-Ann has worked as a Trade Analyst Consultant for several regional organisations and a research officer for two of Barbados’ former Prime Ministers. Kai-Ann is also the holder of an Associate Degree in French, Spanish and Italian for Business and Tourism.
Kai-Ann has worked on projects and made public presentations in nearly all CARICOM Countries. She has the competence required to play a major role in most Caribbean political/trade evaluations given that her qualifications and experience in that field. Her Ph.D. Thesis in International Relations was on the CSME’s Implementation in CARICOM Member States which required the knowledge and use of extensive data collection methods and analyses. Dr. Skeete has over 20 years experience in the field of Trade Research consulting and many of her assignments have involved research or policy based evaluations. Kai-Ann has worked extensively within the Caribbean and is quite familiar with all Member States inclusive of the British Overseas Territories having worked on CSME or CARICOM relates topics in all of them.
